It was a worthy final to a Gold Cup that brought out the best of every player.

But Malmaison showed their superiority and experience.

Runners up Tres Rosas:
Walter Gangrulia, Dominic Leigh, Alex Menchaca and Ben Wesserling

The 2007 Gold Cup Champions, Malmaison:
Carl Watson, Rick Aspland-Robinson, Ollie Hughes and Dean Lines
with Kristina Szekely

It was a fast, exciting match, though not equal in strength. Although Tres Rosas, the home team, played hard and well, never gave up trying, there was little doubt that Malmaison was the superior team. The first chukker ended on an equal 2 goals to 2, but Rick Aspland’s team began to surge ahead in the second, which ended with a 4/2 in his favour. By the third chukker Malmaison went ahead by 6/3, despite Alex Menchaca’s speed and accuracy in mid-field for Tres Rosas and Dominic Leigh’s follow-through. In the end, with Dean Lines, Ollie Hughes and Rick Aspland all scoring goals, the result came to 9 goals to 4 1/2 to give Malmaison the Kristina Szekely/Sotheby’s – Tres Rosas Gold Cup for 2007.
